Ancient pre-Columbian bone balance beam from the Chimu culture of the northern coast of Peru, circa 800 to 1200 Common Era.  Crafted from bone with hollow drilled circles as decoration.  Hole drilled through center and ends of balance beam as attachment points for basket.  Although extremely fragile, the original mesh baskets remain intact.  Minor holes and losses.  Bone measures approximately 2 7/8 inches in length, 3/8 of an inch in height, 1/8 of an inch in thickness.  Each basket hangs approximately 14 inches with an eighth inch width.  Aluminum frame measures 16 7/8 inches wide, 20 1/4 inches in height.  Enclosed in museum glass, not merely conservation glass.  Visually appealing.  Rare to impossible to find intact.  Comes with certificate of authenticity.  Ex Denver, Colorado collection, ex Arte Primativo Gallery, New York.
