This Copador Bowl from the El Salvador region of the Mayan world depicts a seated chieftain on the exterior of bowl repeated four times in the same pattern with arms and legs extended. Interior bottom of bowl depicts the Cardinal directions surrounded by a repeating pattern of what appears to be a bird. Bowl is of a light cream slip with red and black designs, most of which is remaining. Exterior bottom of bowl is domed and has a pie crust appearance circling the edge. Measures approximately 6 1/8 inch in diameter, 2 1/4 inches in height. In as found condition. Provenance; private Southwest collection.
