This is a fabulous large Jalisco Terra Cotta jar with eight molded heads.  Three of the heads are perfect, the other five have minor damage to the noses, heads, and chins.  Heads are nicely detailed and feature earplugs and elongated headdresses possibly portraying a corn god with three raised pellets between the heads.  Minor chipping to rim of jar.  Abrasions to dark brown painted surface.  At 7 inches tall and 10 3/4 inch diameter it is an impressive piece.  Old auction label attached to base.  Circa 200 BCE to 200 CE.  Provenance; ex-Wisconsin private collection.
