Colima Dog Vessel

A very rare and unique Colima hairless dog vessel.  I believe this to be one of the most unique and ancient I have seen.  Crafted circa 250 Before Common Era.  This piece measures approximately 10 inches in length, 5 1/2 inches in height, 3 1/4 inches in width.  Even though there is a small chip from the nose, three of the feet, one ear, and the lip of the vessel, there is no serious damage.  This vessel features a grinning or snarling mouth with teeth showing.  The raised design accentuates the depiction of this hairless dog.  Mineral and magnesium deposits exist as is expected from a piece of this age.  A whimsical piece in ‘as found’ condition.
