Beautiful pottery canteen with a pale cream slip body and reddish brown linear painted decoration. From the SW - Four Corners region of North America, circa 1200 CE. Has two handles that could be attached to a suspended cord for carrying over the shoulder or neck. Some slight wear. Otherwise intact. Measures approximately 5 3/4 inches tall, 5 1/4 inches wide. No chips or restoration. Provenance; ex-collection of Jacques Schotte, Belgium (Co-founder of School of Psychoanalysis), Helios Gallery, UK.
