PreColumbian Offering Vessel
PreColumbian Offering Vessel
This small offering pot, hand formed with three protruding curved knobs, each containing a hole for suspension, has a rounded bottom preventing it from sitting flat on a surface. Research has shown pieces such as this originate from a dry lake bed of ancient Chapala near modern day Guadalajara. Used for religious rituals, such as blood letting. Measures only an inch and a half tall, two inches wide. A simple and un-burnished piece collected in the 1950s by a Memphis doctor and wife.
