This loincloth is from Northern Coastal Peru, circa 800 to 1476 of the Common Era.  It measures approximately 56 inches in length, 8 inches in width.  The waistband straps (ties) measure approximately 2 1/4 inches in width, 41 inches in length.  There is a dark brown fringe at bottom, which is approximately 3/4 of an inch in length.  This piece features three figures measuring approximately 5 1/2 inches tall, 5 inches wide containing fabric colors of yellow, light brown, dark brown and red for the lips.  There are also seven brown geometric designs.  There is one hole in the loincloth (approximately 2 3/4 inches in length) as can be seen in images.  Deterioration and fraying of fabric is light with the exception of a few areas near edges.  Piece is tightly woven with fine thread and complete.  Lightly attached to a very old card stock panel.  When was the last time you saw one of these?!  Would look impressive mounted under glass!
