Beautiful example of the Mayan legend depicting the two hero twins swimming through the underworld.  This piece dates from 100 to 800 Common Era and is 7 1/2 inches in diameter, 3 inches in height.  Background color of interior and exterior is a light orange.  Pseudoglyphs on the interior and exterior are in colors of pumpkin and red with black and red linear designs.  There is a mica that sparkles throughout the bowl when hit by light.  The hero twins are depicted in red and outlined in black.  The exterior also has a number of glyphs, strong mineral deposits, with no restoration.  Purchased from a Hawaiian gallery.  Beautiful condition.
