West Mexico Shaman’s Vessel

Truly an amazing piece, the height of which is approximately 6 1/2 inches and a width of 5 inches.  In examining the piece it is easy to tell that the front and back half were joined from molds and joined together with the spout and base added after.  Ears have holes for a suspension rope to wear over the neck as for in ritual purposes.  There is a raised brim which extends around the entire face highlighting squinted eyes and a toothy mouth.  Highly mineralized with one minor chip to left ear, otherwise intact and untouched.  Circa, 200 BCE to 200 CE.  Provenance, private Texas collection.
